PNC, YSU enter banking agreement

New STEM dean to start in March

Wim F.A. Steelant, vice president of Research and dean of Science at St. Thomas University in Florida, is the new dean of the STEM College. The YSU Board of Trustees approved the appointment in December. In Memoriam...Tom Finnerty and Larry Haims

Tom Finnerty, associate director of the Center for Urban and Regional Studies at YSU, passed away Nov. 25, 2015. Finnerty earned a bachelor’s degree from YSU, was the lead writer for the Youngstown 2010 city development plan, and was instrumental in the formation of the Wick Neighbors and Smoky Hollow redevelopment plans. The family requests monetary donations to the YSU Geography Department, Hospice of the Valley or Angels for Animals. Larry Haims, professor emeritus of Educational Foundations, passed away Jan. 4.

Melnick Museum adds Mahoning County Medical Society collection

The Rose Melnick Medical Museum at Youngstown State University has added the first 25 years of the Bulletin of the Mahoning County Medical Society to its digital archives depository. “These magazines are a wonderful source of local medical and health history,” said Cassie Nespor, museum curator.
