YSU ranks 17th on list of nation's Most Affordable Online Colleges

Affordable Colleges Online has included Youngstown State University on its national list of the Top 50 Most Affordable Online Colleges for 2016. YSU is ranked 17th on the list and is the only university from Ohio that made the rankings.

Mad About the Arts, the annual art/music/dance event that benefits the McDonough Museum of Art and WYSU, is 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at the museum on the campus of Youngstown State University. The event begins at 7 p.m. with the YSU Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kent Engelhardt. Appetizers, beverages and desserts will be served.

Deadline nears for YSU classified union scholarship

Application deadline is March 31 for the Youngstown State University Association of Classified Employees scholarship. “As an organization, we appreciate and acknowledge the importance of education,” said Connie Frisby, administrative assistant in the Office of Computer Science and Information and YSU-ACE president.

YSU introduces new emergency alert system for students and employees

Youngstown State University is introducing a new and improved emergency alert system for students and employees. “After much research, we have decided to sign on with the Rave Mobile Safety system to provide our emergency alert notifications,” YSU Police Chief John Beshara said. “More than 1,000 colleges and universities nationwide employ the Rave system.

Enrollment increases at YSU for first time since 2011

While there was a significant increase in new students this past Fall semester, total enrollment is now up at Youngstown State University for the first time in five years. The university reported that there are 12,361 students enrolled this Spring semester, up 0.33 percent or 41 students from last Spring semester. It’s YSU’s first semester-to-semester enrollment increase since Spring 2011. Gary Swegan, associate vice president for Enrollment Planning and Management, said the university also expects enrollment to increase this coming Fall semester.
