Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)
Online writing aid that offers over 200 free resources in the areas of research, grammar, mechanics, writing, styles, ESL and professional writing careers.
Instructors have the opportunities to refer students, request workshops or consultant assistance in class, and recommend students for employment at the WC. In addition, instructors can encourage students to make up peer reviews at the Center. The WC coordinator, professional tutors, graduate students or select professional writing and editing undergraduates are also available to review faculty material via e-mail or a traditional face-to-face consultation. This includes dissertations, journal articles, and assignments.
Tutoring usually begins the fourth week of the term at this location.

A number of handouts and handbooks are available for use at any time in the WC's main location (Lower Level of Maag Library, Room 171). Handouts (listed below) include explanations and clarification for common writing problems with practice questions or examples that aid in further understanding. A full library within the facility also stocks handbooks, composition books, style manuals and other reference materials.
Throughout each semester, the Writing Center presents a number of free workshops and tutorials to the YSU community as part of the College Success Workshops series. The series is co-sponsored by the Math Assistance Center, the Center for Student Progress and Career Services.
WC workshops are usually 45 minutes to 1 hour. They generally take place in Kilcawley Center, but instructors also have the option of requesting them for a scheduled class period.
