WC workshops are usually 45 minutes to 1 hour. They generally take place in Kilcawley Center, but instructors also have the option of requesting them for a scheduled class period.

One popular CSW series is co-hosted by the MAC and the WC. In fall semesters, this nine-week workshop series prepares students for the ETS Graduate Record Examination – general test. The first session is a general overview of the exam hosted in Kilcawley Center. Afterwards, the sessions occur on a weekly basis at alternating rooms or labs in proximity of the WC in Maag Library or the MAC in the Lincoln building so that there are equal sessions for quantitative reasoning and for writing and verbal reasoning delivered by the Coordinators of the MAC and WC. Ideally, we would like to target juniors and seniors to give students ample time to understand the GRE, prepare for the exam, assess their scores, and re-take the exam, if necessary, before usual graduate admission periods.
We also offer a student-run Creative Writing Workshop series. The YSU Creative Writing Workshop is hosted by the Writing Center, Student Literary Arts Association, and Penguin Review. This workshop is open to anyone, including all creative writers of poetry, prose, and script. Meetings are Fridays at 2pm in the YSU Writing Center in Maag Library rm 171 during fall and spring semesters. Email us at composeysu@gmail.com or join our Fb group: YSUWritingWorkshop
