We are seeking students committed to upholding the values of Youngstown State University to serve as hearing board members in a variety of capacities. Students who serve on these boards have the opportunity to network with a variety of people across campus, develop analytical and critical thinking skills, and serve the campus in a very important leadership role. Students interested in serving as a hearing board member must first apply to the Student Conduct Board, as described below.
Students at Youngstown State University may interact with the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct in a few different ways. Below is more information to describe each role a student may play in our process.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states that “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
When a faculty member discovers an act of academic dishonesty (as defined in The Student Code of Conduct), they should follow the directions given below. Faculty members may not impose sanctions without going through this University approved process, as we need to ensure each student receives due process.
Sanctions are disciplinary consequences imposed on students who have been found responsible for violations of The Student Code of Conduct. While sanctions may be viewed as punitive, the intent is educational. The Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct hopes that all students sanctioned will learn from their experience in the conduct process and become better university community members as a result.
The Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct is committed to supporting a positive learning environment by challenging students to reconcile their behavior making them a positive and contributing member of the University community.
