Six YSU students vie for "Dana's Got Talent" scholarship Sept. 27

Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music hosts the inaugural “Dana’s Got Talent” voice scholarship competition 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Avenue. The event is free. Six singers, all majoring in Voice in the Dana School of Music, will compete for two cash awards: a $3,500 scholarship and a $500 audience favorite award. Each singer will present two selections, one in English and one in Italian. The Italian Scholarship League underwrites the competition and accompanying cash awards.

Accounting and Finance Student/Practitioner Day Oct. 9

Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration, in conjunction with the Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance, Beta Alpha Psi, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Student Ambassador, hosts the 19th Annual Accounting and Finance Student/Practitioner Day 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Conference Center of Williamson Hall.

Since the summer of 2013, YSU Magazine has been inviting married YSU couples to share their love stories in a section of Class Notes that we call Penguin Mates. Hispanic Heritage Month celebration opens this week


“Celebrating and Connecting Communities” is the theme for this year's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, which includes several events on the campus of Youngstown State University. The event is coordinated by the YSU Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee through the YSU Office of Student Diversity Programs, in partnership with the community.
