YSU Dana School of Music Concert Band joins Crestwood Symphonic Band for special partnership concert

Youngstown State University’s Cliffe College of Creative Arts, home to the Dana School of Music, announces a special event in partnership with the Crestwood High School Symphonic Band. The Concert Band Partnership Concert will be held 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 24, at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The Crestwood Symphonic Band, directed by Angela Adkins, will join the YSU Concert Band, conducted by Kate Ferguson, to perform a variety of selections. The YSU Concert Band will open the evening with Claude T. Smith’s Emperata Overture and then continue with chosen pieces by Pierre LaPlante, Andrew David Perkins and Jason Nitsch, among others. The Crestwood Symphonic Band will conclude the evening with selections by Karl King, Michael Markowski and Randall Standridge.

This event offers the Crestwood Symphonic Band an opportunity to showcase the talent of its students to the local Youngstown community. The band, under Adkin’s leadership, has already seen success performing at the Ohio Music Education Association’s District and State Adjudicated Events, earning a Superior ranking. Students who perform in this band develop a strong foundation of music fundamentals and begin to learn how to create more emotive music.

Tickets for this event can be purchased by visiting stambaughauditorium.com/events/. Free parking is available on-site.
