The Youngstown State University Presidential Search is now completed. The YSU Board of Trustees passed a resolution naming Congressman William (Bill) Johnson as the university's 10th president at a meeting on November 21, 2023.

Search History - The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees announced a national search for YSU’s 10th president in May 2023. In June, the board passed a resolution identifying WittKieffer as the search firm to assist in the recruitment of candidates.

A Board of Trustees Presidential Search Guidance Committee is responsible for overseeing recruitment of candidates, performing initial candidate screening, assessment, interviewing, and making a recommendation on finalist(s) to the Board of Trustees.

The Board will conduct its due diligence and make a final appointment. All deliberations of the Committee and of the Board will be conducted in an executive session.

Review of candidates will begin in early October with the intent of having a new president in place no later than mid-2024. Inquiries, nominations, and expressions of interest should be made to WittKieffer by contacting John Thornburgh and Lauren Bruce-Stets via YSUPresident@wittkieffer.com
