Bio
Sal Sanders serves as Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Assistant Provost for Cyberlearning and Professor of Health Professions at Youngstown State University. He is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist with health care and education experience gained as a Clinical Instructor at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio and as the Director of Clinical Education for the Respiratory Care Program at Cuyahoga Community College in Parma, Ohio.
Sal has been recognized as a distinguished professor for excellence in service and teaching at YSU. He enjoys applying technical skills, knowledge and best practices in online learning environments.
His research interests include health behaviors, student feedback expectations, speech recognition and instructional technology. He is currently working with colleagues on a comparison of palpation techniques used during arterial blood sampling procedures.
Sal believes that teaching and research should impact life. In an effort to practice healthy behaviors, he can often be found jogging, or cycling at Mill Creek Park and coaching Spinning at the Andrew’s Student Recreation and Wellness Center, or Steeltown Athletics.
He enjoys providing leadership and support to enhance learning and to enable success for students, faculty and staff. In addition to his administrative work, he typically teaches a class or two each year because learning with students is the best.
