Bio
Administrative professional with over 35 years working with management in corporate and educational settings and 8 years teaching office management skills and courses. The Professional Office Management Program is reflective of Melanie's journey through her career beginning as a secretary holding positions in bookkeeping, accounts payable, office management, project management, education administration and finally, teaching business-related courses. In most recent years, Melanie was the Director of Articulation and Transfer at an online community college that included collaborating with colleges, local high schools, and the state department of education/higher education to ensure transfer options were available to all students. Connecting high schools and colleges through career technical programming was one of the cornerstones of her work as the Tech Prep Coordinator for Jefferson County.
Teaching Interests
With a focus on transferable knowledge-based learning and application, Melanie helped to redevelop the office technology program into the Professional Office Management program. The Professional Office Management Program provides students with the opportunity to learn through application of skills utilized in today’s office. This online learning through introduction, reinforcement and mastery of technical skills and office management techniques provides students with an entrance point into the world of business and work after completion.
