YSU STEM names new associate dean
Greg Dillon, formerly professor of Engineering at Pennsylvania State University Erie whose career includes work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is the new associate dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Youngstown State University.
Dillon, who earned PhD and bachelor of Engineering degrees in Materials Engineering in from the University of Limerick, Ireland, was associate director for Research and Technology Transfer in the School of Engineering at PSU Erie. He also was deputy Head of the Composite Materials Division of Penn State’s Applied Research Laboratory from 2000 to 2012. Prior to joining Penn State, he was principal engineer in Advanced Development at Northrop Grumman, senior development engineer at Lawrie Technology Inc., and assistant director of the Composites Manufacturing Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
His research interests include the physics of manufacturing processes, interrelationships between structure, processing and properties in polymeric and composite material systems, cost effective manufacturing techniques and product design.
Dillon, who has six patents, is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering and the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.
