The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Youngstown State University received the 2016 U.S. Small Business Administration Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award for the Cleveland District.
The award honors an SBDC for excellence in providing value to small businesses and advancing program delivery and management through innovation, including new business creation, capital infusion, counseling success, job creation and program/training innovation.
In 2015, the Ohio SBDC at YSU provided 9,000 consulting hours to small businesses in Mahoning, Trumbull and Ashtabula counties. The work of the YSU SBDC resulted in 20 new business start-ups, 251 new jobs, 1,800 jobs retained, and more than $3.6 million in capital formation.
The SBDC at YSU is instrumental in developing and delivering a variety of business programs, including the Export Assistance Network and the Emerging Leaders program, cosponsored with the SBA and the City of Youngstown.
