YSU prof speaks at 3D printing seminar in Cleveland

Brett Conner, associate professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at YSU, speaks at a seminar titled “What Every Business Must Know Today About 3D Printing” on Thursday, April 21, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Cleveland.Conner, director of Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Initiatives at YSU, will talk about the state of 3D printing technology. He also is a member of a panel discussion. Also participating in the seminar is Rodrigo Enriquez Gutierrez, factory engineer at America Makes and a YSU graduate student.The free, half-day seminar, sponsored by Benesch Attorneys at Law, starts at 11:45 a.m. Benesch is a business law firm with offices in Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, Hackensack, Indianapolis, Shanghai and Wilmington.Conner joins a long list of distinguished guests and panelists at the seminar, including John Cheek, senior corporate counsel of Caterpillar Inc.; Jeff Epstein, director of the Cleveland-Health Tech Corridor; Eric Klenz, managing director of KeyBanc Capital Markets; and Patty Motta, executive director of American Greetings Corp.Conner earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Missouri, and master’s and doctorate degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT. Prior to joining the YSU faculty, Conner worked for 15 years in government and industry. He is a co-founder of YSU's Center for Innovation in Additive Manufacturing. At YSU, he has been awarded several research grants from various agencies including the Office of Naval Research, America Makes, and the Ohio Board of Regents.
