YSU observes Sexual Assault Awareness Week this week on campus

Youngstown State University observes Sexual Assault Awareness Week on campus with a number of programs, sponsored by Housing & Residence Life, for students, employees and the community.

• Monday, April 23, the Clothesline Project kicks off in the Center Arcade in Kilcawley. Co-sponsored with the YSU Title IX Office, the Clothesline Project is a display of shirts that current YSU students create to honor family and friends who are survivors of sexual assault.
• “The Hunting Ground,” an award-winning documentary about sexual assault on college campuses and what its creators say is a failure of college administrations to deal with it adequately, will be screened 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 in the Schwebel Lounge in Kilcawley Center.
• On Wednesday, April 25, International Denim Day will be observed. Wearing jeans on International Denim Day is a call to action for all people to come together by wearing denim as a visible sign of protest against sexual violence.
• Employees, students and members of the community will participate in the Take Back the Night march and rally against sexual violence 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the rock on campus. Take Back the Night is dedicated to everyone affected by sexual assault, from survivors to family and friends. The event addresses rape, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, sexual harassment and stalking. The march honors the survivors of sexual assault and focuses on educating the campus about issues related to rape and sexual violence.
