YSU Moot Court squad competes in national tourney this week
The nationally-ranked Youngstown State University Moot Court team is heading to Dallas this week to compete in the American Moot Court Association’s National Tournament.
It is the ninth year in a row that the YSU team, which is ranked sixth in the country, has competed in the national contest.
The Penguins qualified by placing first at both the Midwest and Rubber City regional competitions.
The national tourney at the University of North Texas - Dallas College of Law is Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20, and includes 80 teams competing for the national title.
The team is coached by Paul Sracic, chair of the YSU Department of Politics and International Relations, and Attorney Ron Slipski, a lecturer in the department.
YSU students qualifying for the National Tournament are:

- Mellicent Costarella (Hammondsville, Ohio)
The American Moot Court Association, the largest intercollegiate moot court organization in the United States, educates undergraduate students about the American legal system, American jurisprudence and the work of American attorneys. A moot court competition is a simulated legal argument before hypothetical appellate courts.
