YSU Jazz Studies announces Spring 2025 concert lineup
YSU’s Cliffe College of Creative Arts, home to the Dana School of Music, proudly announces an exciting lineup of Jazz events for the spring semester.
On Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, the YSU Jazz Studies area will present the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kent J. Engelhardt, in the Ford Theater of Bliss Hall at 7:30 p.m. The Jazz Ensemble will perform “Bird Count” by Maria Schneider, “Kids Are Pretty People” by Thad Jones, “Interlude” by Toshiko Akiyoshi, and “Gunslinging Bird” by Charles Mingus. Vocalist Elizabeth Jadue will sing “That Old Black Magic” by Harold Arlen and “Willow Weep For Me” by Ann Ronnell.
The Jazz Combos will close out February with a concert 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27 at the YSU Spotlight Theater in Bliss Hall.
The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos will unite to perform at the Conneaut Jazz Café in Linesville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, April 5. Following a solo performance by the Jazz Ensemble on 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 14, in the YSU Ford Theater, the ensembles will come together once again on Saturday, April 19, to hold a performance for Valley Christian Schools. The Jazz Combos will close the semester of jazz events with a performance, 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 21 at the Spotlight Theater.
All on-campus Jazz Events are free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue Deck (M30) for a $5 fee payable in cash only.
