YSU hosts panel on gender diversity in technology and computing
A panel discussion about gender diversity in the technology and computing fields will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, in Room 103 of Meshel Hall on the Youngstown State University campus.
The event, hosted by Jumpstart Inc. with support from the YSU Association for Computing Machinery-Women, is titled “Decoding the Glass Ceiling: Female Entrepreneurs in Tech”.
Panel members include: Katie Bennett, GenomOncology, HealthTech; Katie Phipps, LettuceDoGood, AgTech; Leo Pena, Votem, GovTech.
This free event is open to all students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Questions that will be addressed: What is tech? What is it like to work in tech? What is it like to be an entrepreneur? How can we build more inclusive cultures so that more than 23 percent of technical roles at Apple, 17 percent at Facebook and 15 percent at Uber are women? As the Rust Belt is changing to the Tech Belt, how can we encourage our friends who are women to go into tech? And once they are engineers, how can we create a workplace where women are able to do their best work in tech?
