YSU History Day call for judges
Youngstown State University’s Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is looking for judges to participate in YSU History Day 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23.
As part of National History Day, an annual celebration and competition involving half a million students and tens of thousands of teachers, YSU will serve as host for History Day for Ohio’s Region 4.
2024 marks the 50th anniversary of National History Day competitions with YSU having served as a host for all 50 years.
Each year a theme in history is chosen and students in grades 6 - 12 choose a topic that illustrates that theme. The theme for 2024 is Turning Points in History.
Participants will conduct extensive research in libraries, archives and museums, and will present their research via papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries and/or websites. The students’ work will be judged as they move through a series of contest levels.
Judges will help evaluate the projects as related to this year's theme and training will be provided through videos and in person on the day of the contest. This year, evaluations will all be completed online and judges are encouraged to bring their own device, as there will be limited availability onsite.
Judges will be provided with breakfast and lunch.
To register to be a judge, visit the Region 4 Ohio History Day website.
