YSU extends priority enrollment deadline to June 1, 2024
Youngstown State University has extended the priority deadline to commit enrollment to June 1, 2024. With the Department of Education announcing further delays in distributing FAFSA results to schools, prospective students and parents will have more time to submit the FAFSA and commit to enroll with the extended deadline.
“YSU is committed to affordability and to helping students and their families make the best college decisions,” said Elaine Ruse, associate vice president for Student Enrollment & Business Services. "The significance of the academic experiences YSU offers are second to none when associated with actual out-of-pocket cost to attend and the value of a degree earned. The quality of the higher education YSU provides is difficult to outperform."
The Department of Education announced further delays in distributing FAFSA results to schools in order to make inflationary adjustments to the formula that impact the accuracy of the Student Aid Index used to determine financial need. With the latest delay, YSU will not receive 2024-2025 FAFSA application results until the first half of March. Additional information regarding the latest FAFSA delay, can be found on YSU’s FAFSA website ysu.edu/2425fafsa.
Financial aid offers will be sent out in mid to late March, as soon as FAFSA application results are on file and processed. Prospective students, who have not yet done so, are encouraged to complete the FAFSA application as soon as possible, using their FSA ID at studentaid.gov/.
YSU addressed the rising cost of tuition with the Penguin Tuition Promise and a reduction to out-of-state tuition. YSU’s out-of-state students now pay only $360 more per academic year than students from Ohio. Most significantly YSU’s tuition is among the lowest in the region.
"The Penguin Tuition Promise offers a fixed tuition rate for four consecutive academic years, which assures fixed tuition, including room and board, for the pursuit of an undergraduate degree," explained Ruse. "It is designed to make the cost of college predictable and affordable and encourages students to complete degree programs within four consecutive academic years."
