YSU Computer Club wraps up 2024 YSU Hackathon
The YSU Computer Club recently completed their 2024 Hackathon, where students across campus came together to collaborate, design, and build a technological proof of concept to be submitted for judging and prizes in only 36 hours.
April 5 - 7, 54 attendees, forming 14 groups of varying sizes, had the privilege of presenting their projects in front of judges from Dev Youngstown, Zekelman Industries, YBI and more. Four teams were selected to win prizes:
- Sponsored Category “Best Use of FastAPI, React, Postgres, Expo”: Ngoc Tuong Vy Le, Dac Gia Phu Ho, Thanuj Reddy Chamakura for “Student Tutor App”, an educational platform designed to facilitate seamless communication between students and tutors.
- 3rd Place: Jacob Blasiman and Moe Alshoubaki for “IT Buddy, a helpdesk application designed to assist IT helpdesk agents perform more efficiently with AI interpreting user requests and transforming them into computer functions.
- 2nd Place: Ryan Laird, Ian Garcia and Peter Pitzulo for “Dis-Chord”, an AI powered guitar tutor trained to visually recognize chords made by the human hand.
- 1st Place: Cecil Manjerovic and Caroline Manjerovic for “Wave Collapse Garden”, a small, tiled game world that is procedurally generated using a function collapse algorithm to create a unique map that is cohesive.
