YSU announces Legacy Scholarship recipients
Four Youngstown State University students who are the children of YSU alumni are the recipients of the 2021-22 Office of Alumni Engagement Legacy Scholarship.
Recipients of the $1,000 scholarship are:
- Sarah DeLucia, daughter of Joe DeLucia, is an incoming freshman who has been a leader in Girl Scouts, 4H, National Honor Society and National History Day. She was the 2018 Ohio State National History Day state champion and represented Ohio at the national competition at the University of Maryland, where she placed sixth overall in her group. Joe DeLucia graduated from YSU in 1987 with a bachelor’s in Economics and in 1989 with a master’s in Economics.
- Jacob Kalmer, son of Shawnna Moore, is an education major looking toward becoming a teacher and coach. Shawnna Moore graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2015.
- Ellie Wasko, daughter of Yvette Wasko, is a freshman Nursing major who hopes to become a neonatal nurse. She currently works part-time at the Grand Resort in Warren and previously volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Yvette Wasko earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from YSU in 1995.
- Kegan Wormley, son of Jeff and Cheryl Wormley, is an incoming freshman who is already earning YSU credits through the College Credit Plus program. As a high school freshman, Kegan attended the Valley STEM+ME2 Academy in Canfield and during his junior year joined the Engineering program at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center. He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at YSU. Jeff Wormley is a 2015 YSU graduate with a bachelor’s of Engineering degree, while Cheryl Wormley earned a bachelor’s in Education in 1999.
