Monday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 22. The Department of Art hosts a new Red Press Collaborative installment featuring guest artist Kristen Powers Nowlin in Room 4025 of Bliss Hall. Patrons may stop by 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to observe the printmaking process. A reception will be held 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 in Room 4025. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m. The YSU Dana School of Music Jazz Ensembles perform in Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room. The concert is free and open to the public. The group will perform music by Sammy Nestico and Oliver Nelson and will celebrate the centennials of Tadd Dameron, Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie with selections “Good Bait,” “Round Midnight,” and “A Night In Tunisia.” Parking is available for a fee in the M30 Wick Avenue parking deck via Walnut Street. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 12:15 p.m. The Dana School of Music’s Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble perform a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.
Wednesday, Feb. 22, 7 to 9 p.m. The Fifth Annual Honors College Talent Show will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on campus. The show features performances, music and other acts from YSU Honors students, with special guest performances and judging by YSU Honors alums. The event is open to the public. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 7 p.m. Doug Fowler of the Weis Earth Science Museum at the University of Wisconsin at Fox Valley talks about “Avocations and Home Economics: Alternatives to Consumption” as part of the YSU Lecture Series on Energy and the Environment. The lectures, sponsored in part by the James Dale Ethics Center, are in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall on campus. The talks are free and open to the public.
Thursday, Feb. 23, noon to 4 p.m. Nearly 60 employers are registered to attend YSU’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics semi-annual Spring 2017 STEM Expo in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on campus. The Expo is open to all current STEM students and STEM alumni who are either seeking an internship/co-op for the upcoming year or a full-time/entry level position. Thursday, Feb. 23, 7 p.m. YSU women’s BB team takes on Oakland in Beeghly Center. The squad then finishes the regular season schedule noon Saturday, Feb. 25, vs. Detroit. The Horizon League Championships begin Friday, March 4.
Friday, Feb. 24, 4 p.m. Noted musicologist Nathan Kruse, associate professor of Music Education and coordinator of Graduate Studies in Music Education at Case Western Reserve University, lectures in Bliss Recital Hall. The lecture, titled “Community Music, the Aging Process, and Lifespan Learning: Directions in Adult Music Participation,” is free and open to the public.
Friday, Feb. 24, 7 p.m. The YSU Dana School of Music 11th Annual Wind and Percussion Invitational concert will be in Stambaugh Auditorium. More than 115 high school musicians from Fairport High School near Rochester, N.Y., and North Hills High School in Pittsburgh will perform, along with the YSU Percussion Ensemble and the YSU Wind Ensemble.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24, 26 and 26. University Theater’s production of “No More Peace!” opens Friday, Feb. 24, and runs for two weekends in Bliss Hall’s Spotlight Theater on campus. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday Feb. 24, 25, 26, March 3, 4 and 5. Friday, Feb. 24. YSU hosts the 9th Annual Mahoning Valley Miniature Bridge Building Competition in Kilcawley Center. High school students construct bridges within a specified time; the bridges are judged and then load tested until the structures fail. For more information, contact Anna Gasser at anna@mvbbc.org.

Saturday, Feb. 25, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. High school students from throughout the region compete in the 2017 Physics Olympics in Stambaugh Stadium on campus. Saturday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. YSU’s Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance is providing trained business students and professional volunteers to offer the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. VITA offers income tax preparation and e-filing at no charge to local residents and hands-on experience to skilled business students. The program is offered in computer labs on the first floor of Williamson Hall at YSU through April 8. Williamson Hall is located on 221 North Hazel Street between Rayen Avenue and Wood Street.
