Walk with a Doc resumes March 25 at mall

Youngstown State University’s Walk with a Doc program resumes 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at Southern Park Mall in Boardman with COVID-19 protocols in place, including masks and social distancing.

The free program, suspended a year ago in the wake of the pandemic, meets at the mall the last Thursday of every month at the center stage concourse outside the former Dillard’s store and includes a speaker and then a walk around the mall. 

This week’s event focuses on fall risks and includes presentations by Amanda Lyncyk, a nurse at Mercy Health Youngstown, and Tiffany Hughes, YSU associate professor of Health Professions whose research interests include falls among older adults.

Participants will have their heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels taken pre- and post-walk. Refreshments are served following the walk. Also available are giveaways, music and screenings by students in the YSU Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
