"Penguins Against Drug Abuse" combats increasing epidemic
Amy Klumpp, coordinator of the Mahoning County Common Pleas Drug Court, and David Kohout, founder of Talk Is Cheap, are the featured speakers at “Penguins Against Drug Abuse” 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University.
The free event, sponsored by the Health Professions Affinity Community student organization at YSU, is designed to combat Mahoning County’s increasing drug abuse epidemic. Parking is available without charge in the Wick Avenue and Fifth Avenue parking decks on campus.
Vendors expected to participate include Tudor Physical Therapy, YSU Health Professions Affinity Community, and Choffin Career and Technical Center.
Kohout, whose professional background is in the field of sales, has been involved in leadership training and teaching for more than 30 years. Talk Is Cheap is a non-profit organization that focuses on building character, establishing confidence and instilling hope in the lives of young people.
Klumpp has extensive experience speaking with junior high and high school students about current trends in drug use, criminal behavior and the legal consequences associated with these behaviors.
