Joe Edwards, 73, passed away April 4 at home. Edwards joined the Dana School of Music's faculty in 1969, was director of the school for 10 years and later served as dean of the college. He also served in leadership positions in the Beeghly College of Education, including interim dean and acting chair of Educational Foundations, Research, Technology and Leadership. Hundreds of friends and family attended a memorial service April 10 in McKay Auditorium, Beeghly Hall. James Greene, 74, passed away March 13 in St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boardman. Greene was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2012; his term was to expire in 2021. He also previously was president of the Penguin Club at YSU.
Sharon Shipton, 62, passed away in January. Shipton retired in 2010 after 32 years at YSU. She was a professor and director of the Master’s Program in Nursing. She previously was an instructor at Sharon General School of Nursing and was the acting nursing director at the former Grove City Hospital.
