Guest Artist Ingrid Schaffner presents lecture Oct. 19
The Youngstown State University Department of Art announces a lecture by guest artist Ingrid Schaffner 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 in the McDonough Museum of Art Auditorium.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Schaffner is an American curator, art critic, writer and educator, specializing in art history. She is currently at work on the 57th Carnegie International (Ci18), which will open at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh Oct. 12, 2018 and run through March 25, 2019.
Known for the breadth of her art historical knowledge and her exceptional collaborations with artists, Schaffner’s work often coalesces around themes of archiving and collecting, photography, feminism and alternate modernisms—especially Surrealism. Her many significant monographic and thematic exhibitions have brought attention to under-recognized artists and little-explored themes and practices in the art world.
Parking is available in the M30 Wick Avenue parking deck via Walnut Street for a nominal fee. Patrons are advised to watch for posted detours as construction progresses on Wick Avenue. More information is available by calling the Office of Community Engagement and Events at 330-941-2307.
