Global Warming and Economic Mineralogy to be focus of guest speaker

Richard Lassin, former director of Aquila Resources, will present to students in YSU’s Geology of Economic Mineral Deposits class.

The presentation, which is free and open to the YSU community, is 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 in Moser Hall, room 1010 on the campus of Youngstown State University.

Hosted by the department of Physics, Astronomy, Geology and Environmental Science in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and well as the students in the Geology of Economic Mineral Deposits class, Lassin will speak on Global Warming and Economic Mineralogy. He will discuss where these minerals come from and how they are geologically, environmentally and economically explored and developed.

Lassin has 40+ years in mineral exploration throughout North America, exploring for base and precious metals along with uranium in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He holds a M.Sc. from Northern Illinois University. As the former director of Aquila Resources, a development‐stage company focused on high grade and gold-rich projects in the Upper Midwest, Lassin oversaw exploration and development of the Back Forty Gold-Zinc deposit that has been recently absorbed by Gold Resources (GORO: NYSX).
