Energy and Environment Lecture Series presents two films this month

Energy Lecture Series

The Youngstown State University Lecture Series on Energy and the Environment presents two documentary films in October, free and open to the public:

Wednesday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m. “We the People 2.0,” Cushwa Hall, Room B100. Screening followed by Q&A with Tish O’Dell and Doug Shields. “The film confronts its viewers with the ravages of mine tailings and leaky containment ponds, of sludge and ooze and grue, all of which, the film documents, are killing people, particularly in the cancer-blighted small towns of North America.” Visit https://www.n2k.world/.

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m. “How to Let Go of the World and Love All the Things Climate Can’t Change,” Cushwa Hall, Room B112. Screening followed by Skype Q&A with director Josh Fox.  Traveling to 12 countries on six continents, the film acknowledges that it may be too late to stop some of the worst consequences of climate change and asks, what is it that climate change can’t destroy? The screenings are sponsored, in part, by The James Dale Ethics Center and NextGen Climate Action. Due to the ongoing campus improvements, Lincoln Avenue will be closed to vehicles. Attendees should allow extra time to avoid traffic problems. Anyone needing assistance should call the YSU Student Security Service at 330-941-1515.
