A team of senior Dental Hygiene students at Youngstown State University placed first at the Ohio Dential Hygienists Association’s poster presentation competition in Columbus.

Placing first were Diamonto Heberling, Warren, Ohio; Jamie Vamosi, Sharpsville, Pa.; Diana Deehr, Warren, Ohio; and Aubrey Schnur, Butler, Pa.

They were among seven groups of students in the Dr. Madeleine Haggerty Dental Hygiene Program at YSU to participate in the statewide event. All of the students will graduate in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene. In all, 83 student groups from across Ohio presented posters.

The first place YSU group presented a posted titled “The Diamine Decision,” which examined the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) as a fast acting, painless, topical agent used for its anti-caries, antimicrobial, and desensitizing properties.
