Dana School of Music continues 40-year Carols & Cocoa tradition
Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music will continue on with a tradition that dates back more than 40 years as it presents Carols & Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert on Dec. 4 at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Featuring performances by numerous Dana School of Music ensembles, the concert will ring in the holiday season with a unique blend of musical pieces. The event will begin with carols at 7 p.m. in the Jeanne D. Tyler Ballroom, featuring performances of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” by the Brass Quintet, “Marche,” from “The Nutcracker” by the Flute Ensemble and “Oh! Christmas Tree” by the Dana Chorale.
Hot cocoa will then be served in the Concert Hall Lobby during the event’s intermission. The night will conclude in the Concert Hall with the Dana Holiday Concert, featuring performances of “A Christmas Festival” by the YSU Wind Ensemble, “God Rest Ye Merry Hepcats” by the Saxophone Quartet and “Frosty the Snowman” by the Trombone Ensemble.
The concert will culminate with a performance of “The Many Moods of Christmas,” Suite III, featuring the Dana Chorale and special appearances by the Hickory High School chamber singers and the Stambaugh Chorus, both local guest ensembles.
Also featuring other Dana ensembles and individual musicians, the night promises to be an outstanding display of Dana School of Music talent and a magical evening of holiday cheer.
