Dana presents opera April 22-24

The YSU Dana School of Music presents the opera L’amico Fritz Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 22, 23 and 24 in Spotlight Theater in Bliss Hall on campus.

Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. while the Sunday matinee show starts at 2 p.m. All seats are general admission.

Adult tickets are $16. Special rate tickets are: $8 for non-YSU students, YSU faculty and staff with valid ID, YSU alumni, senior citizens, Penguin Club members and groups of eight or more. YSU student tickets are free with valid ID. Call 330-941-3105 or go to www.ysu.tix.com to purchase. 

The opera by Pietro Mascagni is a romantic comedy set in a small province where Fritz is the local benefactor and a bachelor determined to remain so, even-though the town’s rabbi and his friend has other designs in mind.

The production, directed by Dana faculty member Misook Yun, features members of the Dana Opera Ensemble. The cast includes students Emilio Santiago, Marlina Karimi, Jaelynn Mack, Alexander Kluchar and Austin Angus. The roles of David and Caterina are double cast with Christian Thompson, Joseph Atkinson, Alexa Mosca and Maria Anastasiades.

The opera’s guest staging director is Todd Ranney, professor of Voice and Opera at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Technical staff includes Technical Director Ryan Fitzpatrick, Lighting Designer James Oakry and Properties Designer Marlina Karimi, graduate assistant. Kathryn Davison Miller is the collaborative pianist.
