Cris Carter presents YSU Skeggs Lecture April 17

Tickets are available beginning Monday, March 4, for the next event in Youngstown State University’s Skeggs Lecture Series, featuring Cris Carter, former NFL wide receiver, author and football analyst. Carter will present the Skeggs Lecture in Stambaugh Auditorium,  7 p.m., Wednesday, April 17.

Carter played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and the Miami Dolphins. Over the course of his 16 seasons (1987-2002), Carter was named to eight Pro Bowls, was twice named a first-team All-Pro and was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013. In college, Carter excelled at Ohio State where he was a consensus All-American after his junior season.

After retiring with the second-most receptions and touchdowns as a receiver in the history of the NFL, Carter entered the media. He was a studio analyst for HBO’s “Inside the NFL,” ESPN’s signature football shows “Sunday Night Countdown” and “Monday Night Countdown” and an analyst on ESPN’s Super Bowl and NFL Draft coverage. Carter was also a regular co-host on ESPN’s top-rated radio show, “ Mike and Mike.” Most recently, Carter served as a co-host on Fox Sports 1’s daily morning show, “First Things First.”

Carter is the author of “Going Deep,” which examines the evolution of the wide receiver position; he’s also a sought-after public speaker and has spoken for many Fortune 500 companies. Carter speaks about leadership, teamwork and overcoming adversity, including his previous struggles with addiction.
