Cleveland Clinic cardiologist lectures on Sudden Cardiac Death

“Sudden Cardiac Death: Separating Myths from Facts” is the topic of a free presentation 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, by Dr. Milind Desai of the Cleveland Clinic, in Beeghly Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University.

Desai is the Haslam Family Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine and professor of Medicine at the Heart and Vascular Institute and Imaging Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.

The lecture is in McKay Auditorium in Beeghly Hall.

Desai is an expert in multimodality cardiovascular imaging. He is the medical director of the Center for Aortic Diseases, and an integral part of the Centers for valvular heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and radiation heart disease. In addition, he is the director of Cardiovascular Imaging Research and serves on the Heart & Vascular Institute Research Council.

A native of India, Desai received his medical degree from NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, India, and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He continued his clinical training with a fellowship in nuclear cardiology from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, a fellowship in general cardiology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, a fellowship in general cardiology and cardiovascular imaging at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and a fellowship in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.

He has authored or co-authored numerous articles and book chapters on his specialty interests in several scholarly publications and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals.
