Chinese university visits YSU to discuss continued collaboration
A delegation from Shandong University of Technology, located in Qi Culture-Zibo City of Shandong Province in China, visited Youngstown State University to explore continued collaboration.
The group spent time touring campus and the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, meeting with YSU President Jim Tressel and members of the International Programs Office as well as making a presentation on SDUT to deans and department chairs.
YSU and SDUT signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2017, which opened the door for faculty, staff and students from both universities to take advantage of opportunities such as visiting teachers and researchers, student mobility programs, summer camps or winter camps, partner rate scholarships, cooperative research projects and development of joint academic programs.
SDUT will send five STEM students a year to study for one year at YSU in the fall. YSU will also be hosting a group of students from SDUT this summer for a Summer in America program.
The universities are also exploring potential collaboration in other forms, such as joint research projects, joint academic programs and a faculty and graduates teaching program at SDUT.
Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) was founded in 1956 and located in the cradle of Ancient Qi Culture-Zibo City of Shandong Province. It is public comprehensive university with a focus on science and engineering.
