CANCELLED: Women in STEM Career Day March 21 on campus

Michelle Goddard, strategic planner at the Defense Information Systems Agency, is the keynote speaker at the 23rd annual Edward W. Powers Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Career Workshop and STEM Lecture Series at Youngstown State University.

The Career Day, designed to expose young women in grades 6 through 12 to career opportunities in STEM, is 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in the Chestnut Room, Kilcawley Center, on campus. Goddard will discuss how to “Discover Your Potential and Reach for the Stars.” In addition, panel discussions with women about their careers will be held during the morning, and hands-on activities will be held in the afternoon.

The STEM Lecture is 4 p.m. Friday, March 20th in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center. Goddard’s lecture is titled “Make Your Impact on the Nation: STEM Careers in Defense.” The lecture is also free and open to the public.

Goddard received a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Loyola University, a master’s degree in Engineering Management from Drexel University and a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Maryland. Following a year as a policy advisor for Chemical Defense and two years as deputy chief of staff at the Chemical Biological Center in Maryland, she accepted a position as strategic planner for the Defense Information Systems Agency in Maryland.
