Bliss Hall exhibit features art from five painters
“Exhibition SITE: An exhibition of contemporary painting exploring time” is on display in Bliss Hall’s Judith Rae Solomon Gallery on the campus of Youngstown State University through April 20.
The gallery is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
The exhibit brings together five painters whose work is made in response to specific locations or kinds of spaces – sites. Responding to a wide range of sites impacted by history, travel, technology, wars and migrations, the paintings operate through dichotomies between beauty and trauma, memory and anticipation, natural and synthetic qualities, stillness and speed.
The show includes paintings by Andy Curlowe, of Cleveland, Andrea Joki of Cleveland, Matthew Kolodziej of Akron, Eric Lopresti of Brooklyn, and Susanne Slavick, of Pittsburgh.
