“How to Build Sales through Social Media” is the first in a new series of Arts Means Business workshops.
The workshop will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University. YSU faculty members R.J. Thompson of the College of Creative Arts & Communication and Ying Wang of the Williamson College of Business Administration are the presenters.
Arts Mean Business, now in its third year, is a four-part professional development series designed to help artists thrive. The initiative is a partnership of the YSU College of Creative Arts & Communication and the Power of the Arts, with additional support from the Raymond John Wean Foundation. For arts groups or artists to thrive, some business savvy is critical. Artists of every kind not only support the community culturally but also support themselves and their families financially and therefore can benefit from a little business knowhow.

The April 13 workshop focuses on how social media, in one form or another, is a necessity in today’s world, especially in the nonprofit sector. In addition, social media can be a great way to market a business and services. Participants will learn different ways to turn followers and fans into dollars and sales.
Registration is available online at www.powerofthearts.org or by calling Cary Wecht at 330-941-2337. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue deck for $5.
