Art students in Glasgow "Geeza a wee exhib" in Bliss Hall

Artwork created by Youngstown State University students who participated in a study abroad program in Glasgow, Scotland, over the summer will be exhibited Oct. 8 through 26 in the Judith Rae Solomon Gallery in Bliss Hall.

The exhibit is titled Geeza a wee exhib, Glaswegian dialect for “give us a bit of an exhibition.” 

An opening reception is set for 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the gallery.

Both the exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.

Over the course of a month, Art students worked under the instruction of YSU Associate Professor Joseph D’Uva at the Glasgow Print Studio, an internationally-acclaimed studio facility and gallery in the heart of Glasgow. Students created artwork alongside some of Great Britain’s most prominent artists and master printers while studying various techniques in intaglio, relief printing, screen-printing and drawing. Professor D’Uva also led weekly class excursions throughout the region, visiting exhibitions, museums and significant landmarks, including trips to Stirling Castle, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh, Glasgow Cathedral, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Largs via Steamship, and sites bordering Loch Lomond (Scottish Highlands).
