Alum, Tanzanian business founder visits campus
Devotha Ntuke Minzi, a graduate of Youngstown State University and founder of K-finance Limited, a microfinance company providing financial services and business mentoring to small and medium scale entrepreneurs in Tanzania, visits her alma mater on Thursday, April 26.
Minzi talks about the challenges of economic development and entrepreneurship in Tanzania at 3 p.m. in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall on the YSU campus. The presentation is sponsored by the YSU Economics Club, Women’s and Gender Studies, the Williamson College of Business Administration and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
She also will speak with students in the WCBA Entrepreneurship program about entrepreneurship in Africa and will give the keynote address at the annual YSU Economics Banquet Thursday evening.
Minzi holds a master’s in Economics from YSU, and a post graduate diploma in Poverty Analysis from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Hague, Netherlands. Before becoming an entrepreneur, she worked in the policy and research department at the Central Bank of Tanzania for more than 20 years. She founded K-Finance to provide credit and mind set change training to entrepreneurs of Tanzania so as to attain economic independence and to reduce barriers towards wealth creation.
