81st Annual Juried Student Art & Design Exhibition
The John J. McDonough Museum of Art at Youngstown State University will host the 81st Annual Juried Student Art & Design Exhibition, sponsored by the Student Art Association March 24 to April 7.
An opening reception will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 24, with award presentations at 7 p.m. Award categories include, photography, painting, sculpture, digital media, graphic and interactive design. The reception is free and open to the public.
The identity design for the exhibition was created by Lorenzo Devine, a current graphic design major in the Department of Art and the exhibition features works by students enrolled in the Department of Art.
This year’s juror is artist, musician and curator, Adam Welch. Welch who has exhibited regionally and internationally is the recipient of the 2009 Individual Artists Fellowship in Installation/Sculpture from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and was awarded the 2008 Emerging Artist of the Year award by the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. From 2008-2015 he served as the Curator at Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts where he curated over 60 solo and group exhibits of regional and national artists. Welch holds an MFA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a BA from SUNY Stony Brook University.
The McDonough Museum of Art is located on the campus of Youngstown State University. Parking is available in the M30 deck for a nominal fee. During construction on Wick Avenue please follow detours posted for the Walnut Street entrance to the parking deck. The GPS address for the M30 deck is 100 Wade Street, Youngstown, OH 44502.
