40 students, two profs inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma honorary
The Youngstown State University Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, hosted by the Williamson College of Business Administration, installed 40 business students and two professors during induction ceremonies on campus.
Beta Gamma Sigma is the world’s premier business honorary reserved exclusively for schools accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
The ceremony marked the 18th induction class at YSU. The Williamson College has now inducted 728 students.
Students installed include: Amanda Wilkie of Austintown; Adam Zimmerman of Berlin Center; Stephen Daprile, Eric Lemmon, Collin Main, and Dante DeLullo of Boardman; Gus Maglis and John Sebest of Campbell; Dominic Carano, Jordan Roush, Justin Reiss, and Chirag Shah of Canfield; Krista Murray of Columbiana; Thomas J. Baker of Columbus; Jeff Crone of Coopersburg, Pa.; Dylan Anders of Cortland; Emily Lampe of Diamond; Zak Brockman of East Palestine; Lauren Blanco of El Paso, Texas; Christopher Spielman of Fairfield; Dicoy Powell and Brittany Mayette of Girard; Jeremy Hemmerle-Orlik of Hermitage, Pa.; Jacob Smith of Leavittsburg; Leegan Vorndran of Medina; Zackary Gran of Mineral Ridge; Steven Jeffries of New Castle, Pa.; Ashley Cline of Niles; Johnathan Clegg of North Jackson; Carolyn Sabol, Brian Flood, and Benjamin Tadla of Poland; Gabriel Tolesani of Singapore; Jalen Trimacco of Struthers; Brittany Burnett and Emily Mach of Warren; and Brandon Clausen of Youngstown.
Beta Gamma Sigma members are in all 50 states and more than 160 countries worldwide. While almost 350,000 students receive bachelors or master's degrees in business each year, only about 25,000 are inducted into a lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.
To be eligible for membership, students must be registered in business administration programs and be candidates for the baccalaureate or MBA degree. Students ranking in the top 10 percent of the sophomore, junior, or senior classes or the top 20 percent of the master's program at are eligible for this membership.
In addition to the 40 inductees, three students received 2nd Recognition Certificates – Kayla Cerimele of Canfield, Phil Lipari of Poland, and Ann Phillips of New Springfield. Certificates are reserved for students who have been inducted as undergraduates and then meet the standard for induction again in their graduate programs.
Also, two professors, both of whom have recently been granted tenure in the college, were inducted – Ramesh Dangol and Marsha Huber, both of Canfield.
Kevin Helmick, president and chief executive of Farmers National Bank, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
The YSU chapter’s student officers are President Daniel Belinky and vice presidents Allison Conroy, David Wilaj and Megan Factor.
Betty Jo Licata, WCBA dean, a strong supporter of the YSU chapter since its initial installation in 2000, has served as chair of Beta Gamma Sigma’s Board of Governors since 2014.
This year the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter at Youngstown State University was recognized for Highest Honors on the organization’s Collegiate Chapter Honor Roll. The chapter earned this recognition based on its acceptance rate of invitees and its broad participation in activities sponsored by Beta Gamma Sigma. The YSU chapter was among only 52 chapters throughout the world to receive this recognition. William G. Vendemia, Youngstown, is the chapter advisor.
