Trombone Masterclass
YSU’s Dana School of Music presents a Trombone Masterclass by Richard Stout. Stout joined the Cleveland Orchestra in 2000, performing as second trombone, bass trumpet, and euphonium. Prior to this assignment he played with the Jacksonville Symphony and with the Eastern Music Festival as faculty. Stout studied at the Curtis Institute of Music with Glenn Dodson. His earlier teachers included Allen Barnhill and Harold Blevins. Stout has been a guest clinician and masterclass teacher at festivals and universities across the United States and is on faculty at Baldwin Wallace University and Stony Brook State University. Stout has released a solo CD on Albany Records titled Decreasing Radius with his wife, pianist Christian Dahl. As a composer, he has written music for brass and trombone trio, with a song cycle having been released by the Poiesis Quartet with Nancy Maultsby titled as we are in 2024.
