LAHSS Student Conference

Youngstown State University is proud to present the eleventh annual Valerie Waksmunski-Starr Memorial Conference on the Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (LAHSS-Con), to be held April 16-18, 2025, at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor. The conference features papers, posters, panels, workshops, and roundtables on a variety of subjects related to the liberal arts, humanities, and social sciences, including from the disciplines of anthropology, archaeology, education, English, geography, gender studies, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, religion, and sociology. LAHSS-Con is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary conference that provides students with valuable opportunities for professional development. Participation in the conference enables students to present original research and demonstrate its credibility, develop communication skills, respond to feedback, and network with peers and professionals. LAHSS-Con was formerly the YSU “History across the Humanities” Conference.

Cost

LAHSS-Con is sponsored by the Robert W. Reeder I and Charles Darling Endowments in History, the YSU Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Education, and the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor. It was founded by Valerie Waksmunski-Starr (YSU History MA, 2015) and is held in her memory.
