Club Sports - Home Games

Welcome to our home events! Hosting a home event offers a great opportunity to bring teams together for competition while ensuring a safe and well-organized experience. Whether you’re a participant or a visiting team, we’ve put together important information to ensure your event runs smoothly, from submitting event requests and meeting safety requirements to navigating the YSU campus. We look forward to a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved!

Hosting a home event provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your club while fostering competition and camaraderie.

To ensure a successful and safe event, the following guidelines and procedures must be followed:

  1. Visiting Teams
    1. All home events must include at least one (1) visiting team.
  2. Safety and Staffing
    1. A designated safety officer must be present at all home events.
    2. A Club Sports Staff or student staff member must be on-site to oversee the event.
    3. If cash payments are accepted for admission, registration, or other purposes, Campus Police must be on duty.
    4. For sports with a significant risk of injury, an athletic trainer or a qualified Club Sports Staff member must be present. Check the Club Tiers for Athletic Training document for specific requirements.

Home Event Process

  1. Submit a Home Event Request Form
    1. Complete the Home Event Request Form found in the "Club Sports" section on CampusGroups: Submit Here.
    2. Requests must be submitted at least 4 weeks (28 days) prior to the event date.
  2. Coordinate with Club Sports
    1. Work with the Coordinator of Competitive Sports and Youth Programs to finalize logistics, including scheduling, facility use, and any additional staffing or equipment needs.
  3. Event Confirmation
    1. Once approved, ensure all requirements are met, including securing necessary personnel and preparing for participant and spectator safety.

Day of the Event

  • Confirm the presence of required staff, including the safety officer, Club Sports Staff, and Campus Police (if applicable).
