Charge:
The committee shall be responsible for making recommendations to the Academic Senate as to policy related to honor courses and programs. The committee shall have authority to approve an honors section of any course currently listed in the YSU Bulletin. Such approval shall not be subject to further approval by the University Curriculum Committee. The committee will review applications to receive community engaged learning designation.
Composition:
The committee shall be composed of a minimum of five members, faculty or chairs, with representation from each college of the University (no more than two members should be appointed from the same college), 1-2 undergraduate students who are, or have been, enrolled in honors courses, and two representatives from administration, one of whom shall be the Dean of the Honors College, who are nonvoting ex officio members. Additional members may be appointed by the Governance Committee upon request of the Dean of the Honors College.
Qualifications of faculty members:
Do not need to be Senate Members to represent college.
